BookWorkNow ("we," "us," or "our") connects homeowners in Hampton Roads, Virginia with local home service professionals. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

From homeowners: name, email address, phone number, zip code, and details about the service you're requesting. If you create an account, we also store your login credentials (passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text).

From contractors: business name, owner name, email, phone, service area, trade categories, business description, and photos you upload. Payment information for subscription billing is collected and processed directly by Stripe — we do not store your card details on our servers.

Automatically collected: IP address (used for spam prevention and, where you've signed a quote, recorded as part of the e-signature record), and standard analytics data via Google Analytics (pages visited, general location, device type).

How We Use Your Information

To match homeowners with relevant, active contractors in their area
To send automated notifications — lead confirmations, follow-up nudges, review requests, and quote reminders
To process contractor subscription payments via Stripe
To generate and store signed quotes/estimates, including the electronic signature record (typed name, timestamp, and IP address)
To improve the site and understand how it's used, via aggregated analytics
To prevent fraud and spam submissions

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as necessary to operate the platform:

Between homeowners and contractors — when you submit a request, your contact details and job description are shared with the matched contractor so they can respond. Each contractor only sees their own leads, quotes, and job history with you — not your activity with other contractors on the platform.
Stripe — for processing contractor subscription payments. Stripe's own privacy policy governs how they handle payment data.
Our email service provider — to deliver transactional emails (confirmations, reminders, notifications).
Google Analytics — for aggregated, anonymized site usage statistics.
Legal requirements — if required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process.

Electronic Signatures

When a homeowner signs a quote on BookWorkNow, we record your typed full name, the date and time, and your IP address as your electronic signature. This record is retained as part of the quote and may be provided to either party (homeowner or contractor) as documentation of the agreement.

Cookies

We use cookies for essential site functionality (keeping you logged in, remembering your sidebar preference) and for analytics (Google Analytics). You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect site functionality.

Data Retention

We retain account and transaction information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Your Rights
